Last Shabbat, from the beginning of the day to it's end, approximately 350 people enjoyed one or another aspect of the Synaplex experience. A highlight was hearing Judy Feld Carr, not a household name for many yet - alas, Spielberg has yet to make the movie about her - when he does, she'll be as well-known as Oscar Schindler (and the film will be a sure-fire hit; for her stories were as filled with intrigue as a James Bond picture). I guarantee that my grandchildren will be learning about her in the history books, for she personally directed a decades-long operation resulting in the saving of over 3,000 lives, nearly the entire Jewish community of Syria.
It was exciting to hear her story, one that no other group in our area had yet heard. The Jewish Ledger covered it, and you can read their exclusive interview with Judy at http://www.jewishledger.com/articles/2009/12/10/news/news05.txt.
