Shabbat Shalom!
In
my portion of Naso, we read about someone called a Nazarite.
There are no Nazerites anymore, but a long time ago they were very important. In fact, my haftarah is all about a Nazarite named Samson.
So what is a Nazerite? A Nazerite is someone who stays pure
by avoiding wine and not cutting his hair for a year. For me, I think that being pure is being myself and
loving what I do, and what I love to do, is reading
Hebrew!
I like to read Hebrew because I
can make my family proud and for taking on the challenge of actually reading
it. I
think that taking on challenges plays a big role with the Nazarites because
staying pure can be quite a challenge in my opinion. Back in the biblical times, I
think I would be one of the best Nazarites, maybe even better than Samson!
I am dedicating my mitzvah
project to my dog Lucy who died last year, by raising money to help Animal
Friends Of Connecticut.
